      The Tarantula Team is one of several “Critter” Teams located at the National Training Center (NTC) at Fort Irwin, California. The Team was formed in 1987 as part of Operations Group, NTC after the Army identified a requirement for a Task Force that was manned and equipped to provide coverage and coaching to Light Infantry/Airborne Battalions.

      Unit descriptions and histories have been compiled from multiple sources including websites, US Army historical documents, organizational histories, association files, recorded interviews, and oral histories.
