The 4th Psychological Operations Group (Airborne) stands as the United States Army’s premier active-duty tactical influence and information warfare organization. Headquartered at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the 4th POG(A) is a core component of Army Special Operations. Its elite Soldiers operate globally, deploying in small, highly trained teams to shape foreign narratives, alter behaviors, and manipulate environments in support of national security objectives—often achieving strategic victories without firing a single shot.

Activated in 1967 during the Vietnam War, the group was forged in the necessity of consolidating massive, complex psychological warfare efforts. Since its inception, the 4th POG(A) has been the unseen hand in every major American military engagement, from the jungles of Southeast Asia to the deserts of Operation Desert Storm and the complex counterinsurgencies of the Global War on Terror. The 4th POG(A) trains and deploys PSYOP forces in support of combatant commanders, joint Special Operations forces, U.S. ambassadors and other agencies. Its battalion organization has changed over time; the 3rd POB’s later assignment was to 8th POG(A), rather than the older four-battalion arrangement previously listed here.
