501st Parachute Infantry Regiment Geronimo crest with Master Parachutist wings, printed on the left chest.
The 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment activated at Camp Toccoa, Georgia, on November 15, 1942. After training in the United States, it deployed to England and joined the 101st Airborne Division for the campaigns that followed. Its parachutists entered Normandy on D-Day, with missions around Carentan and the Douve River crossings.
The regiment jumped into the Netherlands during Operation Market Garden in September 1944, capturing and defending bridges near Veghel. In December it moved to Bastogne and helped hold the town during the Battle of the Bulge. The Geronimo crest on this design recalls that regimental airborne heritage.
